Mixtape:

A Story of Love and Loss

But the middle— the middle was a one-of-a-kind love story.

Bill named the mixtape after a park they used to visit, and the songs told her he was in love. Kristen responded in kind, and on Kiss Day,

they knew they were meant to be.

Cliché? Maybe.

They created a remarkable life together—family, friends, successful careers, and travel.  When Bill suffered a near-fatal aortic dissection, Kristen was certain their life together was over.

Bill had other plans.

A powerful and heartfelt story of love, partnership, and loss, MIXTAPE is part memoir, part medical journal, part grief and all healing.

More writing from Kristen

When putting the book together, she took a break from writing. Now that the book is finished, she is realizing that writing held an important place in her life. You can find more writing from Kristen on her new blog, linked here: Mixtape Blog

About

KRISTEN A. LYNCH grew up re-enacting All-Star Wrestling moves with her brothers, watching her mom crochet, and playing catch with her dad. Her childhood dream was to be part of an ensemble that recorded the soundtracks to her favorite Saturday morning cartoons.

Her family still gives her a hard time about prepping for Y2K, and she loves to start-but not maintain- her garden. However, she makes a damn good banana bread, and her chocolate chip cookies are a point of pride.

She always liked to write, but never considered herself a "writer" until she unexpectedly received positive feedback on her Caring Bridge entries for Bill. Now, she thinks it sounds kinda to call herself a Writer.

For the last 32 years she's served the students of the Saint Paul Public Schools as a teacher, instructional coach, district administrator, and school principal.

Her kids, Erin and Joe, are just the best and her dog, Burt, barks too much.
